NanoMatrix3D products by Nanopharma, a.s. are primarily used for research of differentiation, in vitro expansion and cultivation of cells. NanoMatrix3D is intended for research, developmental and experimental purposes. The materials typically offered to customers are PCL, PLA, PLCG.

WHY NANOFIBERS

  • The structure and functional properties of nanofiber structures closely resemble the extracellular matrix which forms the natural environment for cell proliferation.
  • One of the greatest benefits of nanofibers is their large surface area. This ensures far better cell adhesion to the nanofibers compared to using common smooth polystyrene plastic.
  • The nanofibers used for NanoMatrix3D products are made from biodegradable polymers which are typically used in the field of medicine, e.g. for preparation of tissue substitutions, hernia meshes or sutures.
  • Nanofibers have excellent optical clarity which makes it possible to observe and analyse the morpedhology of cells in the whole volume of the NanoMatrix3D structure.
  • Thanks to the advantageous mechanical properties of nanofiber structures, NanoMatrix3D products are easy to work with.

 

NANOMATRIX3D BENEFITS

Circles for 6; 12; 24; 48 and 96 well plates

The size of these nanofiber scaffolds corresponds to the diameter of the wells in cell culture plates. They are supplied in accordance with the number of wells in plates, for which they are intended. Cells may be removed from the product by trypsinization.

Inserts with nanofibers in 6; 12; 24 well plates

The nanofibers are placed into the inserts and into the culture plate. This product range is suitable for quick and easy manipulation. The inserts and culture plates may be used repeatedly, this only applies to the nanofiber structures provided they are not mechanically damaged. All the materials used can be sterilised using ethanol.

Circles in Petri dish

Nanofiber discs Ø 35 or 60 mm in size are secured to the Petri dish by single point fixing. This allows for the nanofiber disc to be completely submerged in the culture medium. All the handling-related material is specified in the protocols provided.

Polycaprolactone (PCL)
Polycaprolactone is a synthetically biocompatible polymer which belongs to the group of aliphatic polyesters. Biocompatibility, good miscibility with other kinds of polymers, good adhesion to a wide variety of substrates and very good processing and mechanical properties makes this polymer a suitable choice for use in medicine to create either tissue carriers or sutures. For NanoMatrix3D products, PCL with a molecular weight of 45,000 is used. Nanofibers most frequently achieve diameters ranging from 100 to 300 nm (SEM images in Fig. 3) as shown in the histogram in Fig. 4. Poly(L-lactide-co-caprolactone-co-glycolide) (PLCG)

Poly(L-lactide-co-caprolactone-co-glycolide) (PLCG)
PLCG is a biocompatible and biodegradable copolymer based on lactide, glycolide and caprolactone. This copolymer meets the specific requirements in biomedical applications and thus offers a wide scope of properties and uses. PLCG combines all the common advantages of PLA, PGA and PCL properties and displaces the negative properties of the individual polymers. For NanoMatrix3D products, PLCG with a molecular weight of 50,000 is used. Nanofibers most frequently achieve diameters ranging from 800 nm to 3.6 micrometers (SEM images in Fig. 5) as shown in the histogram in Fig. 6. Polylactide (PLA)

Polylactide (PLA)
Polylactide is a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer which offers excellent processing properties. Thanks to its ability to decompose into harmless lactic acid, PLA is used in the medical field, especially for implants, hernia meshes and also for drug delivery systems. Different degradation, mechanical, physical and other profiles can be achieved by using various molecular weights of PLA. For NanoMatrix3D products, PLA with a molecular weight of 30,000 is used. Nanofibers most frequently achieve diameters ranging from 300 to 700 nm (SEM images on Fig. 1) as shown in the histogram on Fig. 2.
